HOW TO MAKE EASTER CEREAL BAR

Start by lining a 9×13″ baking dish with parchment paper and coat with non-stick spray, set aside.

In a large bowl, add Shreddies, Cinnamon Chex and pretzels. I like to break up the pretzels so I don’t have large pieces in each bites.

TIPS FOR PERFECTING YOUR BARS

  • Be sure to keep stirring your marshmallow mixture while it is melting to make sure it doesn’t burn.
  • Do not add the vanilla extract until you’ve removed the marshmallow mixture from the heat.
  • Combine the cereal with marshmallow mixture before you add in the mini eggs – this will keep the colour vibrant and avoid the chocolate from melting.
  • Don’t press down too hard when transferring the cereal mixture to the baking dish. Your cereal bars may turn out hard and really dense.

STORING AND FREEZING

These marshmallow cereal bars can be stored in an airtight container or large ziplock bag at room temperature for 2-3 days. You can also cover the baking dish with plastic wrap as well. You can freeze these bars, but they will be very hard and loose their gooey nature. If you do freeze them, leave them at room temperature for an hour before enjoying.
