Puff Pastry Cinnamon Twists
Don’t forget to include the cream cheese dip – I could seriously bathe in it!
Introduction
Truth be told I have yet to make cinnamon buns from scratch. I always get deterred as soon as I see the yeast in a recipe, don’t ask me why! I was having coffee at a local coffee shop, Square 1, and had one of their cinnamon knots – it was ridiculously good. I thought I’d try and do something similar with whatever dough ingredients I had in the house – let me know what you think!
Don’t forget to include the cream cheese dip – I could seriously bathe in it!

Ingredients
- 1 sheet of puff pastry
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- 2 tbsp melted butter
- 1/4 cup butter (softened)
- 1/2 package of cream cheese (softened)
- 3 cups confectioners sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla
- up to 1 cup milk
✖️Pull the puff pastry out of the freeze approx 45 mins before you want to start cooking. You want the dough to be cold but pliable
✖️Preheat your oven to 400 degrees and line baking sheet with parchment
✖️Lightly flour your work space, unfold puff pastry and gently roll. You want the pastry to be quite thin
✖️Brush the pastry with melted butter, doesn’t have to be thick, just make sure the surface is covered. Sprinkle cinnamon and sugar mixture all over, covering the whole surface – don’t be shy!

✖️Fold the pastry in half the short way and roll our slightly to press the dough together so the sugar and cinnamon really stick. Brush with more butter, sprinkle with more cinnamon and sugar
✖️Using a pizza cutter, cut pastry in 1″ strips. Twist the strips as tightly as you can and place on parchment paper. Place in the oven and bake for 15-20 mins, until golden crispy

✖️While twist are cooking, prep your cream cheese dip – Using a hand mixer, combine softened cream cheese, butter, confectioners sugar, vanilla and 1/4 cup of milk. Slowly add more milk until you reach the consistency you like. I usually add close to 1 cup
✖️Serve immediately with cream cheese dip. If you want to save them for later, microwave for 15 seconds before enjoying them!
Enjoy xo
