Introduction
With Easter right around the corner, I thought it would be a good time to share my mom’s apple crisp. This was a classic Sunday dessert in our home growing up – always extra crumble! This recipe is fool proof – I remember the first time I made it, I was in my university dorm room. The entire floor smelled delicious!

Ingredients
- 6 peeled and cubed apples
- 1/4 cup amaretto or dark rum (optional)
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup oats
- 1/2 cup flour
- 1-2 tbsp cinnamon
- 1/2 cup cold butter
✖️Begin by preheating your oven to 350 degrees. In a baking dish, approximately 8’x 8′, add in the apples and amaretto or dark rum (optional to add alcohol!)
✖️In a large bowl add the brown sugar, oats, flour, cinnamon – stir together. Add to that the cold butter (very cold!) Using a pastry blender, two knives or your fingers, work the flour and butter together, until pea size
✖️Sprinkle the oat mixture over the apples, don’t press down. Bake uncovered, until apples are tender – around 50 mins
Serve warm with a giant scoop of ice cream!
enjoy xo
